Modelling and Cost Estimation for Conversion of Green Methanol to Renewable Liquid Transport Fuels via Olefin Oligomerisation

The ambitious CO2 emission reduction targets for the transport sector set in Paris Climate Agreement require low-carbon energy solutions that can be commissioned rapidly. production of gasoline, kerosene, and diesel from renewable methanol using methanol-to-olefins (MTO) Mobil’s Olefins to Gasoline Distillate (MOGD) syntheses was investigated this study via process simulation economic analysis. current work presents a model comprising liquid fuel heat integration. According analysis, total cost found 3409 €/tfuels (273 €/MWhLHV), corresponding price 963 €/t (174 €/MWhLHV). calculated is considerably higher than fossil fuels biofuel blending components. methanol, which largely dictated by electrolytic hydrogen electricity, most significant factor affecting profitability MTO-MOGD plant. To reduce make them economically viable, it recommended EU’s sustainable policies are enacted allow flexible practical transport-related emissions within member states.
